I had planned on hitting the gym on Saturday morning, A) because they open much earlier on Saturday than Sunday and B) because I hadn’t been in the gym since Wednesday so it was time.
What I didn’t take into consideration was that Thor did not want to let me and Mrs. Kenobi sleep!
Good times…
I don’t like going to the gym drained of all energy. Especially when trying to lift heavy. I don’t mind going sore, but totally drained is another thing!
Daredevil went with me and took on the bouldering area whilst I threw the iron around, or at least attempted to throw it around. Today’s session was as follows:
Deadlifts: Bar (45lbs) x10 x1, 135lbs x5 x1, 155lbs x5 x1, 175lbs x5 x3
Bench Press: Bar x10 x1, 115lbs x5 x1, 135lbs x5 x1, 145lbs x5 x2, 155lbs x 2 x 1 (I had a spotter and attempted 5 reps, I struggled but successfully pressed the 2nd rep, I failed about 1/4 of the way up on the 3rd rep and the spotter helped me get it back up)
The squat rack was being used, so I switched the workout around and did…
Lat Pull Downs: 95lbs x 5 x 1, 110lbs x 5 x 1, 125lbs x 5 x 2, 140lbs x 5 x 1. I chose to do Lat Pull Downs instead of pulls because I worked that pretty hard on Wednesday and I could still feel a tenderness in the tendons and didn’t want to push them too hard.
Squats: Bar x10 x1, 75lbs x5 x1, 95lbs x5 x1, 105lbs x5 x3 – Squats are feeling better each time. I’m glad I backed off the weight and started working back up. I think two more sessions working form and execution with these reps and I should move up to either 110 or 115lbs for my work sets.
DONE and feeling good! I went over to the bouldering area for a few minutes with Daredevil and played around before I did my cool down stretches. Bouldering is harder than it looks but I’m glad Daredevil was with me.
Be strong for you.
