Workout 11/15/14: Double Session

So, starting 6:45am, Thursday the 13th, it began to snow. It didn’t stop until late in the afternoon…Friday. Approximately 8 inches of snow dumped on us. Some reports said just over six, some said just over seven. In my area, at least it was closer to eight. Regardless, it was awesome.

Missing my training session on Thursday, I had a good “PT” session Friday morning as I shoveled my driveway, the sidewalk, and a path for two of my neighbors. I had Friday off of work to celebrate the birthday of one of my precious Team Kenobi kiddos, so I was hoping to get my gym session knocked out during the afternoon. Unfortunately, there were other things to take care of, and happily, there were things to celebrate as well. So I made a mental note to get the session done on Saturday.

Waking up Saturday morning, I felt the work I had done yesterday shoveling the snow. My hands were more sore than usual, due to gripping the shovel, and especially my lower back. I had a solid breakfast and then Mrs. Kenobi and I took care of some errands in town, not getting back until around 1pm.

After getting things situated and ironed out around the house, I was able to break away and go get things done at the gym. On the way there, I decided to add a few things to my planned workout and push myself.

I had planned on doing Pulls, Dips and some extra shoulder work. I scratched the shoulder work and did Squats and Deadlifts.

It was a good session. The work I did the day before definitely had an effect on my performance, but it was a good challenge. Let’s get down to the details.

Pull Ups: (assisted pulls -40lbs assist) Wide Grip 1×5, Normal Grip 1×5, Normal Grip 1×3.5, Normal Grip 1×2.5, 1×6 @ -85lbs assist w/Normal Grip

Dips: (full bodyweight) 7 x 6

Squats: 45lbs(Bar) x10 x1, 115lbs x5 x2, 125lbs x5 x295lbs x7 x1 (slow execution on the last set, on purpose)

Deadlifts: 45lbs(Bar) x10 x1, 135lbs x5 x1, 185lbs x5 x3, 135lbs x10 x1

I felt my grip slipping bad on the last 3 sets of the Deadlifts.

Like I say, challenging, but good.

Keep moving forward, everyone.
