So, as you can see, I am still getting used to my position at work and trying to balance training. I’m averaging one workout per week right now, barely. Last Saturday, the 20th, I hit the gym for the first time since Monday the 8th and had planned on doing Deadlifts and Overhead Presses. I was pushing myself on the DLs but I didn’t plan on doing the 205lb lift again because it had been 12 days since I last did it. As I went through my sets, I began to feel like I was battling indigestion or something. I kept burping between sets and during the final three sets, I felt like I was going to throw up. So much so that after the final DL set, I walked to the bathroom because it truly felt like I was going to lose whatever was in my body. I called it quits after the Deadlifts because of the way I was feeling. I am proud of myself for pushing and finishing the DL set, but for the life of me I have no clue why I began to feel that way. I’ve felt nauseous before when completing some of my sets, but this was a little more intense than I’ve felt before.
Here is the 20th’s work on the Deadlift: Bar(45lbs) x10 x1, 135lbs x5 x1, 155lbs x5 x1, 175lbs x5 x1, 195lbs x5 x2
The work I did today was planned for December 24, however by the time I was ready to go after getting a few things tied up at work, at 12:30, I checked the gym’s website because I knew they had shorter hours that day…all to find out that they had closed already! ARG!
Today was the first day I was able to get it done.
Going into today, I felt a bit…cautious regarding the work set I have planned. I really didn’t want to feel that nausea again and I wanted to complete the work I had planned. Much to my relief, I was able to complete all the work I had planned. Here’s what I did today…
Deadlift: Bar x10 x1, 165lbs x5 x2, 205lbs x5 x3, 135lbs x12 x1
Overhead Press: Bar x10 x1, 65lbs x5 x1, 75lbs x5 x1, 85lbs x5 x1, 95lbs x5 x1
Squats: Bar x10 x1, 135lbs x5 x2, 140lbs x5 x2, 115lbs x5 x1
I am finally at a place where I have 45s plus weight on each side for almost all of my lifts. Deads, Bench and Squats. I have a little more ways to go before I can lift at least 135lbs over my head, but I’ll get there.
I’m currently thinking about when I want to switch over to bodyweight calisthenics via “Convict Conditioning” since I have hit my goal of Deadlifting my own bodyweight. Speaking of which, I am currently hovering at the 205lb mark for bodyweight and, from what people tell me, I still look like I am hovering around 185.
