The Scent of…

My children’s hair after being outside in any season

A grassy field, covered in dew, just warming up from the sun

Garlic and Onion cooking in practically any style

Fresh water springs and lakes

A ribeye over open flames in my backyard

Sagebrush and conifer trees in the mountains

Freshly fried foods and grilled meat in the cool fall and winter air

Discharged gunpowder

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin three-wick candles from Bath & Body Works (because I’m a little Basic…)

Petrichor

A really hot or really cold day

Hours long rainshowers

Lemon

Pipe tobacco and a freshly lit cigarette – though I don’t smoke

Halloween candy all mixed together in a plastic jack-o-lantern basket

White and Pink Cherry Blossoms

Woodsmoke from campfires and meat smokers

A forest floor with wet or dry leaves

Lawn clippings and freshly cut grass

Mint fields

  1. Interesting that you mentioned discharged gunpowder. During my military training the smell of diesel, dust and lingering gunpowder left an indelible mark on my senses…

  2. Nice, interesting ones.
    The smell of roasting or frying coriander seeds.
    And also cooking fenugreek seeds.
    Strawberry smells great too.
    I even like the smell of gasoline. 🙂
